China Consumer Association evaluates 30 mobile power supplies, and 4 effective output capacities do not match the marked values

  As mobile phone performance enhances

  Screen enlargement

The battery life of mobile phones is inevitably stretched thin

The battery never seems to be enough

Anxiety is always on the road

Mobile phone parties generally have mobile phone battery shortage anxiety

The 20% that turn red should be anxious

Only 50% of the half grid is left to worry about

Only more than 90% will rest assured

Therefore, mobile power is a commonly used device by many people

  And how to choose

Most consumers only look at the style, capacity or shell material

Little is known about the detailed features

In recent years, mobile power safety accidents have occasionally occurred. On July 1, 2018, the recommended national standard for mobile power was officially implemented. To this end, the China Consumers Association, together with the Shenzhen Consumer Committee (including the Futian District Consumer Committee), carried out comparative tests on some mobile power products from mainstream online platforms and offline brick and mortar stores.

  Test summary preview

☆ All 30 samples have guaranteed safety protection functions (overcharge, overdischarge, short circuit protection, drop test are tested according to national standards, and all pass the customs)

☆ Comprehensive comparison, the cost performance of domestic brands is outstanding

☆ The effective output capacity of 26 samples at room temperature is consistent with the product marked value

☆ 26 samples have incomplete identification information to varying degrees

  Comparison test sample

30 mobile power samples, involving 27 brands (in no particular order): Patriot, Baseus, Baseus, First Guard, Dianxiaoer, DiBike, Philips, Fengming Jiapin, Scud, Huawei, Kagel, Romas, Lvlian, Meizu, mophie, Pinsheng, Samsung, Sony, Jiani, Shangrui, Titaxin, Taidian, Wopin, NetEase Yanxuan, Xiaomi, Yimo, etc.

  Test standards and methods

This comparative test is based on: GB31241-2014 "Safety Requirements for Lithium-ion Batteries and Battery Packs for Portable Electronic Products", GB/T35590-2017 "General Specifications for Mobile Power Supplies for Information Technology Portable Digital Devices", SJ/T11364-2014 "Restricted Use Labeling Requirements for Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products" and SZTT/06960001-2016 "General Technical Requirements for Portable Mobile Power Supplies".

The test content involves 13 project metrics in three categories: security, label identification, and performance. (See the figure below for details)

  01

Domestic brands perform well and are the most cost-effective

In the 10 samples with the highest comprehensive score, domestic brands account for nine seats!

The performance of 30 samples was compared, and 3 samples were rated with five stars

The performance test of the samples in this comparison test includes cell capacity, effective output capacity at room temperature, charging time, charging and discharging temperature, output voltage and current, etc. The comprehensive evaluation of the test results shows that 22 samples have received more than 4 stars, of which 3 are five-star samples, namely Samsung EB-P300C, Huawei AP09Q, and BST-0137DA.

Battery capacity: The battery capacity of a mobile power supply is an important indicator of the performance of the battery inside a mobile power supply. The most direct feeling of the battery capacity is the length of time the mobile power supply is used, which is also one of the reasons why consumers have the most complaints and disputes in this regard. The battery capacity is not equal to the actual capacity used, but it affects the actual capacity used.

The test results revealed that 21 samples met or exceeded the nominal value and received five-star praise.

When the mobile power supply is working, it has to go through multiple losses such as step-down, step-up process and protection board circuit, and the final output capacity is the actual capacity used by the consumer.

Among the 30 mobile power supply samples tested this time, 26 of the samples met the requirements for effective output capacity, which was consistent with the label.

The charging time mainly depends on the time required to fully charge the mobile power supply. A longer charging time indicates that the mobile power supply has a shorter service life and requires too much time to charge the mobile power supply. At the same time, there is a risk of other accidents during the longer charging process.

The charging time of the 30 mobile power supplies this time meets the maximum theoretical charging time of the product, and the 5 models achieve five-star evaluation, and the charging time is shorter.

The charging and discharging temperature mainly examines the surface temperature of the metal and plastic parts on the surface of the mobile power supply during charging and discharging. If the temperature is high, it may burn the user of the mobile power supply or hurt the surrounding items. In severe cases, it may cause the mobile power supply to naturally cause fires and explosions, which seriously endanger the lives and property of consumers.

This time, the charging and discharging temperature test of 30 mobile power supplies fully meets the standard requirements, and the temperature of the Kagel B20000 sample during charging and discharging has won five-star praise.

Output voltage and current This project mainly evaluates whether the output voltage and current value of the mobile power supply product is stable when it is working. The unique feature of the mobile power supply and the ordinary battery is that it has a boost system. The working voltage of the ordinary battery is between 2.75V and 4.2V. This voltage cannot be directly charged to the mobile device. A boost system must be used to boost it to (5 ± 0.5) V to charge the mobile device normally.

This time, the output current of 30 mobile power supplies meets the marked value, and the comprehensive evaluation of the output voltage of 30 power supplies, Sojani S200, received 4.5 stars.

Samples can withstand short circuit protection, overcharge protection, overdischarge protection and free drop test

30 mobile power supply samples have been tested for short-circuit protection, overcharge protection, overdischarge protection, and free drop, without leakage, leakage, rupture, fire, and explosion. They can work normally after the short-circuit and overcharge state is over. Most of the samples performed well in the shell flame retardant test.

There are 26 samples with labels with varying degrees of information shortage

Labels should include two aspects: the first is the restricted use of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical products; the second is the label content on the product packaging.

After inspection, only 4 of the 30 samples met the content of all label identification items (Sony SONYCP-V10B, Pinsheng TS-D151, Kagel B20000, Wopin P20Q), and the remaining 26 samples were missing product information to varying degrees.

Safe, easy to use, easy to carry, summary of 30 power supply sizes

This comparison test conducted actual statistics on the weight, size, shell material, interface and indicator light of the sample, giving the product a more intuitive appearance comparison parameter, and playing a guiding role for consumers with different needs. This time, the weight, size and shell material of 30 mobile power supplies are compared. The two power supplies of Shangrui UP-40E and Dibiko ALiG3 are light in weight, small in size, and have better portability than other models.

  Knowledge point

  1

Try to buy regular brand mobile power supplies through regular channels. When purchasing on e-commerce platforms, the official flagship store is more trustworthy.

  2

Try to choose the brand mobile power supply product. Check whether the outer packaging of the product is complete, whether the packaging contains the product qualification certificate, instruction manual, warranty sheet and other basic accessories, and at the same time open and check the appearance of the product. It is required that the appearance is clean, no cracks, no burrs, no rust, etc.

  3

When selecting a mobile power supply, pay attention to the production date of the product. The closer the production date, the better. The product should have the necessary product name, model, standard number (GB/T35590-2017), rated capacity, manufacturer or trademark, warning instructions and other information. Do not buy "three no" products.
